Hello August!
The Two of Cups, also known as the Lord of Love, has shown up for us this month. There is so much here, let’s jump in!
While there are many meanings and ways to interpret the Two of Cups, the most common is related to relationships and matters of the heart. While love is a question this tarot reader is often asked about, it is not always when and where will I find love. It is, am I loveable?, will I be/feel loved?
This card can represent that head over heels beginning of a relationship when it feels like no one and nothing else exists but this person.
It can also be the point in your relationship when a decision is to be made about engagement and/or marriage. This requires discussion and examination. What are you/your partner’s needs and wants? What are you/your partner’s long term goals and interests?
The Two of Cups can be the strong and lasting bond of friendship or business partnership. There is an attraction, a connection, a cohesiveness.
Or, if a separation, falling out or break occurred, the Two of Cups can indicate a truce or healing. The arrival of this card can mean an olive branch has been extended, balance can be restored and you can gain back solid footing once lost. There is even the possibility of a reunion or getting back together.
Here is a new concept we have not discussed before. The Two of Cups is a stage card. What does this mean? Some of the cards in the deck are arranged as the backdrop of a stage and by association the figures appear as the actors. Take a look at the picture of the card above, you will see what I mean.
Are you with me? I am going to take it a step further . . .
When these stage cards appear in our readings, it calls to question true intentions and makes us ask ourselves, can I trust what I am seeing/experiencing? Is this real or only a façade? Is a role being acted out? And why? I am not saying this is always the case, but, I do always take note of a stage card. In the Two of Cups we may ask: Is the relationship as idyllic as it appears? Being in the early “gaga” phase of the relationship, have these individuals created an image in their heads that cannot be lived up to? Does something appear to be totally out of context?
I do like to point out a few images in the card picture that draw me in, and give the card more meaning. Today, I first draw your attention to the golden cups in the hands of both the man and the woman. The cups are of equal size, shape and are being held at the same height. This indicates equality and respect in this relationship. Another image that caught the eye of a client I saw this past month is the Caduceus, the winged lion and intertwined snakes, which sits above their heads. The meaning is peace, balance, health and also indicates a blessed union.
As we move forward through this warm and wonderful month, here are some questions the Two of Cups asks you to consider: Where are you looking to find balance or bring things together this month? Are your thoughts and actions working together? What role am I playing? Where can I get one of those sweet smelling wreaths to wear when I celebrate my victories this month?
Did you know that everyone loves a tarot reading?
I am available for private readings, events and parties. Or, hey, just drop me a line to say hello and/or tell me how the Two of Cups resonates with you!
Until the next time . . .
