As we continue to build on the meaning of the Queen of Cups (check out last week’s post here), let’s take a closer look at the position of the queen and why it’s an essential piece of this month’s message.
It may be surprising to learn that the kings and queens of the tarot are equals. You heard right. Both the king and queen are masters who wield power and influence. They are, as you know, the same but different. Maybe you’re shaking your head, saying, no, I don’t know. So, how are they different? Well, the kings are more active, assertive, and commanding. They are very visible and out in the world.
On the other hand, the queen is more intuitive, compassionate, understanding, and inwardly focused. Queens bring a receptive inner strength, ruling in a more “behind the scenes” way. She offers a sense of certainty and self-assurance that only comes from real-life wisdom and life experience. As we learn more about the queen, we discover that her calm demeanor conceals a lifetime of emotional growth and self-discovery. She’s had her fair share of challenges and heartaches, and through her resilience and connection to her intuition, she’s emerged stronger and wiser.
The Queen of Cups is an image of emotional intelligence and maturity. She shows up to teach you to embrace vulnerability and authenticity. And she’s a reminder that you can find true strength through your personal emotional experiences.
Last month, my colleague Lorraine Prieto and I leaped and created a new moon circle ritual. Outlining the agenda, we prioritized producing a memorable experience that included meditation, intention setting, short tarot readings, and sharing our stories. Looking back at the pieces that made our circle a success, the most intimate (or powerful?) was sharing our personal stories. One woman spoke while the rest listened, sent heart emoji, and held space. What a tremendous gift!
The Queen of Cups invites you to reflect on the wisdom and experience of your life story, encouraging you to listen to your intuition, nurture your emotions, and connect on a new and more profound level.
Until the next time.
Ever upward!
