Are you enjoying the gift of the present? In other words, are you following the Four of Cups—staying in the moment instead of daydreaming about the past or anticipating the future so you can better appreciate the present? How about a perspective shift? Instead of feeling like “everything happens to me” (victim), maybe everything happens for you (opportunity). The Four of Cups reminds you to approach life from another angle—for you. See how one word makes a difference? The current moment (if you’re able to recognize it) is filled with abundance and possibilities; the present is where life happens!
If you missed last week’s post, Daydream Believer, you can check it out here. Now, let’s continue the conversation …
The Four of Cups
Sitting with his arms and legs crossed, the boy in the card appears closed off and withdrawn. His gaze is downward facing, disconnected from the outer world and lost in inward reflection. Three beautiful golden cups are lined up in front of him, representing things from his past that once brought him pleasure. He knows they’re there, but they no longer bring the joy they used to because they’re no longer enough to make him feel truly alive.
He’s stuck and fears being caught off guard, rejected, hurt, or worse yet, having the past repeat itself. He’s so caught up in his story that he either doesn’t notice or isn’t willing to see the animated cloud offering him a fourth golden cup. So he misses its message, which is that the cloud appears to be silently saying, “Open your eyes—opportunity, imagination, inspiration, and new ideas are all around you! You simply need to look to realize they’re right in front of you!”

The Gift of The Four of Cups
What does this mean to you? Sometimes all you need is a perspective shift to see your life from a different angle, in a different light. Focusing on what’s not working prevents you from seeing what is. The gift of the Four of Cups and the reason it’s appearing now lies in its reminder that there are so many gifts in the present moment—it’s just a matter of recognizing what they are…
Here’s your challenge: Find the gift in your current situation.
- What’s right in front of you that you don’t see that’s good?
- What’s the why in the fact that you’re reading about the Four of Cups right now?
- What do you appreciate? The air in your lungs? Your comfortable bed?
Present moments don’t have to be about anything profound—simply how you’re changing your perspective, even for the moment, to truly being in the moment! When we choose to focus on what’s good and present, life is good.
