Before we get to the carefree innocence of the 6 of cups, I want to briefly mention a current astrological trend we are currently passing through, since many clients I have been working with have observed an energy in the air. The eclipse! But, we are not having only one eclipse, we are in the midst of 3 eclipses in a row! The eclipses, which started on April 25th, and will occur again on May 9th and May 25th, 2013 are actually a big battle between 2 very strong planets (Pluto and Uranus). Uranus rules the unexpected and Pluto governs fear and jealousy. Eclipses bring change to your life. And, to communicate in Facebook-speak about change, it’s complicated. Eclipses can stimulate relationship break ups and business failures, but, they can also rush in new love and promotions at work. Mix the energy of the eclipses with the planets involved and we have the possibility of some major drama.
So, how heavenly for us to be gifted with the 6 of cups in the midst of it all. Just the look of this joyful card makes me want to smile. Two sweet children dressed for play under a blue sky as the strong building of their home/village shields them from the outside world. They are protected. There are 6 cups, and each has a beautiful blooming flower opening, shining, and receiving the light and love surrounding them. In a most chivalrous and gentle way, the older child is gifting the younger child with one of the flowering cups. There is equal joy in this gesture, in both the giving and the receiving.
So, you may ask, what does all of this have to do with me?
When life gets challenging and we look for comfort and inspiration, our minds can easily transport us back to a time or place in our lives when things were more ideal. For some of us, this may be our childhood when things were simple and easy, the magical early days of a first love relationship, or an activity that bring us joy (shopping!). For others, this may be a place such as your parents house, your favorite greasy spoon or a special summer destination.
The 6 of cups may reference children. It can indicate a pregnancy, birth or an adoption (depending on the surrounding cards). It can also suggest you seek out the advice of a child or that you approach a matter with a childlike innocence. Children see the world as a perfect place and are open to the experiences that come their way. What are you missing from your vantage point?
The number 6 is about harmony, understanding, healing and nurturing. Bringing the energy of both the eclipses and the 6 of cups together, we are working through our challenges with the thought of happy endings. We have arrived at a protected place, a safe place to let go. It is time to step out of past regret. It is time to stop worrying about what others think of us. It is time to move forward and not look back. Things will work out better than expected, an unexpected twist of fate will be a turning point for you in the achievement of your goal.
Some questions to think about this month: How can I be the best version of me? What small act of kindness can I offer? What do I need to remember? Where do I need to step back and gain some perspective? What old habits am I too attached to? What is something new that I am (or want to) inviting into my life?
