We’ve made it to the last blog in the May series, The Hanged Man – Inaction in Action. Tell me… what are your thoughts about The Hanged Man now? He can bring up a variety of feelings, and if you’re an action-oriented person, it can be extremely challenging to embrace the idea of inaction, suspension, and reversal. The Hanged Man approach implies that the delay may be exactly what you need to let new possibilities flow and now may be the time for the attitudes, patterns, habits, and desires that are no longer useful to disappear from your life. When the Hanged Man is in alignment with the universe, it’s a sign of awareness of your true purpose.
Game-Changer!
A recent reading had my client “Amy” feeling like she was really in a pinch. Amy recently accepted a BIG job that was a bit out of her wheelhouse but nonetheless, she was excited about this opportunity and eager to get started. She envisioned a very structured environment where she would run a tight ship, work set hours, and create an office culture that was on-brand for her employer. Amy’s reality, however, was the reverse of this in almost every way. Her calendar is out of control. She works all the time and even now after many months on the job, she still struggles to get her arms around this beast. Amy has no balance or fun in her life. Her time is like sand in her hands but at the same time, she feels trapped and fighting for her life.
As Amy described her situation, I envisioned a treadmill that was set to a speed that was WAY TOO FAST for her to keep up with. And, as an ultra type A, Amy wanted to know how she could fix this.
- What if the “fix” is the opposite of what Amy thinks it is?
- How could Amy benefit by surrendering control?
- What would it be like to pause and reflect on this situation?
We are currently exploring a few untraditional “opposite” approaches together. While it’s been a process, together we have uncovered some unexpected gifts and insights into how this situation has unfolded. Welcoming a new perspective has been a game-changer for Amy.
The Hanged Man reminds you that sometimes you have to put everything on hold before you can take the next step. These pauses can be voluntary or involuntary, so trust your intuition and welcome these pauses with open arms. Being stuck is an opportunity to change your perspective, shift your energy, and change up your routine. It’s time to find your true purpose. It’s time to set yourself free.
I can’t wait to celebrate your wins!
Ever upward.
