We have started a tradition of taking the last week(s) of summer for a family getaway. We leave the hustle/bustle, noise and grime of the city behind and we head out to the woods. Living in the woods is an adjustment, it requires a total shift in consciousness. Bears, deer, foxes, skunks and other 4 legged creatures rule the large expansive reserve our house sits so close to. At night there are no street lights. It is SO dark.
Country living is very different than city life. While away I not only got a break from the city, but I also got myself a little enlightenment.
At the end of our driveway, and pretty much every driveway out there, sits a hardy wooden garbage bin. Each having a secure latch. This concept was, at first, totally lost on me. Why would you need to lock up your already sealed garbage bins?
Of course, the universe is always ready to provide us with the answer! On night 3, after a big BBQ, we double bagged it up and filled the bins. Prime pickings I am sure! From our house we did not hear a sound (or, of course, see anything). But, the next morning, we were shocked, surprised and truthfully, a bit amused to find . . . . . this.
A bear had come, ripped off the door of our sturdy locked bin, eaten what he liked and left this mess for us to clean up. We learned a few lessons this day, and had a good laugh to boot.
This all leads us to the tarot card we will be talking about today. The 2 of Pentacles, also known as the Lord of Harmonious Change.
This card speaks of the ups and downs in life. Whether they be financial, relationships, family, career, a deadline you are working towards, stress or a mix of these things. When the 2 of Pentacles shows up in a reading it suggests that more than one thing is happening at the same time and you are being put in a position that you must juggle. It is time to be flexible. It is time to adapt.
When I describe pentacles, the suit that looks like coins, what they really represent to me is that which has value. This can mean money, a family heirloom, a title or position you hold, or your family itself. Pentacles are the element of earth and are a very grounded and rooted suit.
The picture on the card shows a young man juggling two pentacles while standing/dancing on one foot. One of the first things I notice is the BIG red hat he is wearing. It is both unfashionable and kind of funny looking. It’s is meant to show that it extends WAY over his head. It points to the use of both our brain and our intuition – and how that brings us to a place of greater possibility.
The 2 of pentacles can be either positive or negative. As with most things in life, you get to decide how you will approach the situation. Can you strike a balance? Are you strong and centered?
Are you not feeling confident right now? This card is asking you to believe in yourself. You have all you need to make this challenge a success.
The Two of Pentacles is high energy card. Good times, fun, laughter and vitality are common associations. The figure in the card is alert, agile (juggling and balancing on one foot – whoa!) and patient. If you are pushing yourself too hard, you may feel the reverse effects, tired, lackluster, even depressed.
While living out in the woods I needed to change my patterns and habits to adjust to the 4 legged friends with ideas of their own. Approaching challenging situations with a rigid mindset and no back up plan will leave you cleaning up a bigger mess than you intended.
Some questions to ask yourself: How is your life balancing act working out for you? What can be put aside in order for you to focus on what is most important right now? Are you making choices that allow for flexibility and adaptation? Do you now understand why when out in nature a locked garbage bin is necessary?
I sure do!
Fall has arrived! I am available for private readings, fun events and holiday parties. Did I mention that I bring the fun?
Or, reach out to say hello and/or tell me, what I LOVED about your blog post was . . . .
I believe in you.
Until the next time . . . .
