How’s November 🍂 going for you? Soon, we’ll be celebrating Thanksgiving 🦃 here in the US. While it’s true that it’s only one day, this holiday spreads over a week of family, friends, food, and shopping and quickly ushers us into the end-of-the-year festivities. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but think of how the Eight of Pentacles is like Thanksgiving. Of course, I would think that, right?? Hear me out.
As we have learned in the past two weeks, the essential elements of the Eight of Pentacles are hard work, attention to detail, and doing/being with what you love. To tie these two together in another way, the result of this card and Thanksgiving is profoundly satisfying and productive. Don’t believe me? Just ask whoever cooked the turkey in your house!
Today, I’m adding another meaning which is the impulse to learn. Sometimes you need to develop new skills. You research, dig for details and work hard to get up to speed. The Eight of Pentacles seeks external knowledge—he wants to know why and how (and so do I). Do you?
The Tarot Coach Approach to How to Sharpen Your Skills
Let’s give this a try!
- First, ask a question about your skill set, such as “what skill will get me to the next level?”
- Now let your eyes sweep over the Eight of Pentacles card and jot down the image to which you are most drawn. Let’s say it’s the man’s hammer.
- Next, what color catches your attention? Maybe it’s the man’s red leggings.
- Finally, what’s the overall vibe you get from this card? What jumps out at you is the feeling of mindfulness.
Putting It All Together
Hammer: This instrument requires good eye/hand coordination, concentration, and precision of movement to hit your target—every time. Also, it’s action-oriented, urging you to stop reading or talking about it and do it.
Red Legging: The vitality, passion, heart, and soul necessary to become good (or better) at what you do. Red symbolizes fertility, courage, self-awareness, self-confidence, survival, and security—and it’s the color of your root chakra or survival instinct.
Mindfulness: When you’re in the moment, you’re motivated to channel your creative energies into the task. The epitome of the phrase be here now, engaging in this way promotes peace of mind because time passes quickly, leaving you feeling relaxed, anxiety-free, content, and accomplished.
Now we’re ready to answer the question, “what skill will get me to the next level?”
Answer: Identify the tool that allows you to focus more precisely on a specific element within your skillset. Summon the energy to concentrate on that one path to achieving a particular goal because doing so holds the key to mindful effortless engagement that brings joy!
