So often I am asked about career, business, financial viability and/or success. We all want to know how, when, where and even if we will make our mark in this world. Most of us know (and others soon learn), success is not a solo ride. There are many pieces and people that contribute and play their part along the way.
The Three of Pentacles is very often *the* card we look for to show us that things are moving in the right direction. And, as you may notice, there is not one, but three figures in the card. There are elders and there is an apprentice. They are a team, working together on the project at hand. Each person playing their part, in drawing on their skills and their resources to complete the intended goal. This is the Three of Pentacles in action; working together, reviewing and planning and ultimately achieving a successful end result.
When the three of pentacles shows up it is not time to be vague or go rushing forward, flying by the seat of our pants. Ah yes, we have all done that. This card indicates a need for preparation and planning.
And what is the reward? What is to be gained? Of course, we all hope to be paid well for our time and expertise. But, the Three of Pentacles wants more. The Three of Pentacles wants recognition, praise, and a reputation for doing a spectacular job. All of this, no doubt, will bring in more work, and ultimately, compensation.
It is always fun for me to take an image or two out of the card and get a little extra meaning and symbolism information from it. The first image that draws me in is the pillar in the middle of the card. In many of the other cards (Justice, High Priestess, Moon, Hierophant) someone or something is planted between two pillars, which indicates balance. This one pillar situated between the three individuals indicates the need for a middle ground. It is time to consider matters of diplomacy, strategy, balance and tact. That going between may be more fortuitous than taking a more advantageous (read self rewarding) route. Maybe instead of seeing things in black and white, we can see things in a new (third) perspective.
Let’s take a moment and break this card down a bit further. What does it mean to be a three? Three is about growth and expression. It is a number of vision, creativity and perspective. Three’s bring confidence through acquired knowledge.
And what does it mean to be a pentacle? Pentacles represent the element of earth and all things that hold a tangible value. This suit relates to job, security, education growth, investments, home, money, wealth and stability.
As we consider what this means for us in each of our lives, here are some questions for you to ask yourself: Am I a team player? Am I willing/able to put my personal interests aside (for a time) in order for something bigger to happen? What are my best/strongest traits? Where am I lacking? Do I need further education? Is there someone who can mentor me or I can mentor? What is the plan/strategy/goal? What am I looking to manifest? Am I committed?
The three of pentacles opens the door, it is your choice to step into it.
As always, I wish you success and that you be kind to yourself.
