The Page of Cups enters December like a boss. Seriously, have you seen an outfit like this for sale anywhere? Not to mention his fishy side-kick peeking out to say, “Hi!” The Page of Cups is the perfect card to escort us through the end of the year, bringing artistic flair, creative flow, and love. This Page invites you to give something new a chance and be receptive and open to the energy around you.
But before I get ahead, let’s step back and unpack the specific elements of the Page of Cups.
The Young Gossip
Pages are the messengers of the Tarot. They are the baby of the court family, which means they have little power and can be highly influenced by the cards around them. Even so, don’t underestimate them! Pages carry the essence of their suit and act as the bearers of important news. The Page is the first spark. And once this spark moves into action, it will be handed off, becoming a job for the knight.
Pages are young, full of potential, bringers of news, growth-oriented, and full of excitement and hope. They can also be immature, inexperienced, weak, lacking in commitment, and bring an air of uncertainty.
Cups are the suit of emotion, feeling, love, luck, and joy. The suit of cups represents the element of water and is connected to our relationships. Cups say to pay attention to your dreams, heart, and intuition.
A Message for You
What happens when the Page of Cups shows up?
As mentioned above, Pages bring news, so this Page may be popping in to let you know that good news is coming! His news may be a great excuse to shop for new clothes or shoes or get your hair, makeup, or nails done. You may get an invitation to a celebration or a wedding. Or, perhaps, hear news of a pregnancy or an engagement.
Another aspect of the Page is gossip. And, since he has a great imagination and can be pretty dramatic, his news may be embellished or exaggerated in some way.
This Page loves fashion, and—as you can see from his outfit’s colorful, elaborate style—he is doing it his way. The puffy pink blouse and pink lotus flowers on his tunic signify love, beauty, and calm. The vibrant blue of the background indicates inspiration, purity, and sensitivity. And the bright yellow details speak to his warmth, optimism, and joy.
To play fair, here is a brief mention of when our beloved Page is not at his best. This Page has deep feelings, and sometimes the realness of growing up can feel overwhelming. Having what is sometimes called Peter Pan syndrome—he does not want to grow up, and I can relate to that!
Another interpretation may be the lengths we go to look young and youthful. Stop criticizing yourself, lean into being your beautiful self and focus on where the real magic happens.
Just like the Page of Cups, I invite you to be a boss this week and embody the energy of this card by being: sensitive, lighthearted, imaginative, charming, and vulnerable.
Stay tuned for next week when we talk about WHY this card may be coming up for you now.
Until then, ever upward.
