Hello August!
July was a busy month. So much is happening in our personal lives, and, the world. Do you ever feel like saying “stop the ride, I want to get off”?
Astrologically speaking a lot has been happening as well. We have been in an eclipse season. What is this? Eclipses happen in groups, sometimes in pairs but at times it can be a series of 3 or even 4. Eclipses bring change, redefinition and address the things that are no longer working. We are now in the midst of a series of 3 eclipses. A partial solar eclipse on July 12th, an intense lunar eclipse on July 27th and another partial solar eclipse on August 11th. To complicate things, Mercury, the planet of communication, is retrograde, from July 26th through August 19th. Not sure what that means? Check out a prior blog explaining it all here. With so much going on, it is important to be present. This is a time for discussion, reflection and awareness.
I take this message to heart. Recently, I saw a touching, honest and thoughtful Indie movie called Eighth Grade. In the movie, we are given a window in to the challenges, disappointments and sometimes painful experiences of being an adolescent in her final week of eighth grade. It was funny, sad, enlightening, hopeful and real. Do you remember eighth grade? Shall we not?
This movie very much felt like a metaphor for the astrology that we find ourselves working through this month. The main character? She is our card . . . the Page of Wands.
Pages represent transition. They encourage us to be creative and to think outside of the box. With a playful and childlike energy, they are clever, witty and perceptive.
Known as the messenger, Pages are intuitive, aware and often arrive with news. Messages from this Page tend to arrive quickly, such as a text, email or phone call. Also, pay attention to the people around you – idle chatter may reveal something juicy.
Wands represent the element of fire. They move quickly and are known for original thought, expansion, ambition, creativity, strength and determination.
When the Page of Wands shows up it is often an indication that you are planning to start something new or enter a new phase of your life. The Page brings fun, adventure, new hope and optimism. This card is associated with entrepreneurship. Are you thinking of starting your own business and/or becoming your own boss?
Feeling daring? The Page is all for pushing the envelope, stretching your boundaries and accepting a challenge. This can show up as choosing to run a marathon this year, purchasing tickets to a far away place you have never seen or doing something unexpectedly silly like getting in the bouncy house with the (other) kids.
In a relationship, this Page may come in like a tornado, sweeping you off your feet and turning your world upside down. Exciting but not sustainable, when things settle down with this guy, he is someone who appreciates his freedom.
When reversed or not working at full potential this Page energy can show up as lacking ambition, not knowing what you/they want or how to move forward, being full of excuses or reasons why, having a fear of travel, delays, setbacks, foolish risks and unreliability.
Let’s take a look at the picture in the card. What do you see?
Questions to consider: What is your clear vision? How can you take decisive action? Are you thinking outside the box? Are you feeling daring? What does your intuition tell you? What message is the universe sending you? How can you prevent burn out? What did you dream of doing when you were in eighth grade? Where can I get a pair of those cool yellow boots rockin’ the flame motif?
The Page of Wands is creative, enthusiastic, curious, optimistic, confident and ready for action.
Having passed through eighth grade, we have all successfully navigated challenging, awkward and unsure times in our lives.
Light up this month with expansive thoughts, determination, intention and creativity.
Be daring.
Be fearless.
Be present.
Plan for the future.
Know that all things are possible.
Your adventure awaits.
Until the next time . . .
