Hello June and welcome!
Whether through trial and tribulation, work or schooling, each of us has some sort of special knowledge. It is this special knowledge that friends, family, acquaintances and sometimes total strangers reach out to us for assistance in guiding them through when their lives hit a speed bump. Finding someone who can give you direct and unbiased insight on a situation can help bring you that moment of clarity you have been seeking. I am often approached for advice when someone is at a personal or professional crossroads. This privilege is not something I take lightly. It is one of several reasons why I identify with our card this month.
What is your special knowledge?
Rational, controlled, diplomatic and analytical in his approach, the King of Swords is our card this month.
In general, the King of Swords represents structure, routine, self discipline, power and authority. With his sharp mind and high intellect, he is a mediator, judge and master of mental discipline. He is a great communicator, speaker, writer and thinker. Some may say he is detached and remote, but, the truth is he feels very deeply. Emotions and feelings are simply not his mode of expression. Ambitious and (sometimes) flexible, this guy lives for integrity, justice and fairness.
When King’s show up in a reading, it can represent a person in our lives. This figure may be an adult male (living or deceased) who has had a strong influence on your life. Kings in a reading can be our fathers, grandfathers, and/or male mentors (such as teachers or counselors). Male or female they can suggest people in positions of authority, possibly representing our employers, supervisors, superiors, professors, scientists, lawyers, experts, advisors, or other professionals. This King can also represent qualities we are looking to build up within ourselves.
A master of logic and reason, the King of Swords is a mature individual who is savvy, sharp, honest and strong. Never in a rush, he takes his time to assess a situation, leaving all doubts behind.
On the negative side, the King of Swords can be aloof, withdrawn and at times, aggressive, moody or even a bit of a bully if someone is not to his liking. His default is to dictate and dominate others. Luckily, for the most part, he is fair, responsible, dependable and can be relied upon to play by the rules.
They say a picture is worth one thousand words, what does this image say?
Questions to think about: What am I not looking at? Where have I detached myself from a situation? What is the fair/just thing to do? Do I need to be more flexible? Am I seeing this situation from every angle? Have I read the fine print? What would (insert your king/mentor) do? Where are my red slippers??
When the King of Swords shows up it is a gentle (or with this king maybe more direct) suggestion to take the kind of actions *he* might take.
This is your month to pay attention to detail, tell the truth, think of a solution, take the high road, communicate well, judge fairly and speak up. How will you share your special knowledge? We all have something to teach. We all have something to learn.
And, you know what they say . . . . the sky is the limit!
I wish success, clarity and the mind of a KING.
Until the next time . . . . . .
