This past month, eight of my childhood friends, and I met up to celebrate our many years of friendship.
Yup. Nine of us managed to wrestle ourselves free from our daily responsibilities and did the planes, trains, ferry boats, and automobiles thing. We came from five different states, and all different work/life situations. We spent four amazing days on Cape Cod laughing until we cried, storytelling, acting like carefree teens, catching up and sharing. It was super fun. And, the perfect way to honor and acknowledge our deep connection.
We all noticed the emotion infusing our time together, which opened the door to spill a little metaphorical tea. What happens on vacation, stays on vacation. So, I will end with this… the saying is true, “There are no friends, like old friends.”
With all of this emotion, it’s no surprise that we were in the midst of a month full of Moon energy.
When the Moon Shows Up, it’s Time to Pay Attention
Whether it’s the Moon in the sky or the tarot card this month, it’s time to pay attention to what’s happening beneath the surface.
- The Moon is about your subconscious mind, your gut instincts, your intuition, and trust.
- The Moon is feminine and is linked to all that goes along with being female. Including the menstrual cycle, which – interestingly enough – lasts approximately 28 days. Did you know that it takes the Moon 28 days to complete its three-phase cycle? Coincidence? You tell me.
- The Moon is ruled by the astrological sign of Cancer and is also connected to the sign of Pisces, which indicates hidden things, intuition, worry, and moodiness.
- The Moon can be murky and unclear, which can sometimes leave you with a feeling of uncertainty. If this is happening for you, it’s an excellent time to pay attention to your dreams, listen to your inner voice, and deal with issues that come up unexpectedly. The Moon is looking to bring in a higher level of awareness.
In divination, you will often hear that the Moon symbolizes the Mother and the Sun symbolizes the Father. Right about now, you may find that issues around the topic of motherhood are highlighted – this could be about the relationship you have with your mother or your style and/or your perspective to motherhood.
The Function of the Moon Card
The function of the Moon card is sleep, which also connects to your dreams. Important messages and information may come to you in your dreams, so, pay attention or even write them down to think about or interpret when you’re awake.
The Moon card can be a sign to look a little closer at a situation or relationship. It’s possible that although the outward appearance or face value of an alliance may look fine, the behind-the-scenes action tells an entirely different story. Things are not as perfect as they seem. Maybe you’re feeling insecure in the relationship; there is miscommunication or old issues have come up and caused some tension. The Moon is illusory. It can be hard to tell. Trusting that you know what is best for you will help you find your way back to the right path. And, to clarity and focus.
What exactly is the image in the card trying to tell us?

Here are some questions to consider with the Moon:
- What’s distracting you?
- Do you have a recurring dream?
- What is the message of your dream(s)?
- What things have not turned out to be as they appeared?
- When has your own strong emotion taken you by surprise?
- What needs to happen in order (for you) to get back on track?
The Moon is creative, imaginative, empathetic, emotional, artistic, adventurous, easily influenced, and sometimes moody. The Moon is about desire.
We are all looking for a connection. We are all looking for clarity. We all know what feels powerful, strong, and intuitively, right?
While it is so amazingly lovely to have eight childhood friends to support me on my journey, know that I, you, and ALL of us are on this journey alone. And, you are exactly where you should be.
Just like the crayfish, which is emerging from the pool of water in the Moon card, you are finding your way.
