This year has been nothing like any of us have expected. Yes, there have been challenges. And, there have also been gifts that have been unexpected and eye-opening. We have felt stuck and unsure and also liberated and outspoken. Our world is increasingly complicated by all of the decisions, truths, and circumstances swirling around us each day. Sometimes we don’t know how to move, or literally get out of our own way. We could all use a little extra juice right about now. Let me introduce you to the Knight of Pentacles.
The Knight of Pentacles
He is self-confident and knows who he is. He is extremely ambitious, but not aggressive. Guarded and cautious, he doesn’t take risks where his future is concerned. He believes that success should be earned. The energy he brings is practical, purposeful, productive, and unwavering. He stands firm against the opposition and stays true to his personal convictions.
In tarot, all of the knights – and only the knights – are on horseback. They are extroverts, action-oriented, and are the ones who are going somewhere. The knights appear when we make significant changes in our lives. They represent surface change such as a new home, a change in job/career, and the beginning or end of a relationship. Knights can also represent deep change as in a shift in consciousness or becoming more aware of our shadow selves – aka, our Saboteur.
You Have What It Takes
Pentacles are the resources that we have, our bodies, finances, and our sense of security. They are that which we value and are associated with the material aspects of life including work and career. Pentacles are the element of earth.
The Knight of Pentacles is a great card to get around the topic of business. This can be your business plan unfolding exactly as you hoped it would, your financial picture improving, or a new customer or client who gives you consistent business and pays their bills on time.
The Knight of Pentacles may show up when you’re facing a situation that you need to step in and take responsibility for. While you may experience this as a burden, you are being asked to step up and show what you are made of. Others may lean on you or expect too much of you. The pressure is on but YOU have what it takes. 👍
Are you feeling pride over something you have achieved during difficult or challenging times? You haven’t gotten to where you are by chance or luck. Your patience and tenacity have paid off!
Where the heart is concerned, I confess, it’s hard not to have a little crush on this guy. He is chivalrous, honest, and fiercely protective. Just look at how he holds his pentacle. It’s as if he is holding a treasured gift. And the gift is him! I read it as him saying “I offer my full self to you”. He is devoted and holds nothing back. At the same time, he is patient and unwilling to pressure or manipulate a situation or relationship to advance his own agenda.
You Must Be Wondering, What’s The Catch?
As with all of the cards and personalities in the deck, our knight does have a low vibe. His downside is that he can be a perfectionist and inflexible. Perfectionism can turn into procrastination. He can take his time in deciding, and in that, sometimes he never does! He can also be unadventurous, boring (gasp!), and stubborn. Drop him a few hints, and he may not pick up on the clues… or simply digs his heels into the earth.

Personal Growth and Expansion are REAL!
As some of you know, for the past 2+ years, I’ve been diligently working on expanding and deepening the ways I can serve my tarot/divination clients, coaching clients, students, and event/class offerings. One way has been through my work as a Co-Active Coach. Personal growth and expansion are REAL. While I have loved the work, the final step – my oral exam – was necessary to complete the journey. This summer, after a tremendous amount of preparation and decisive action, I PASSED my oral exam. I am officially a CPCC – or a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach! Woot!
I’m feeling the Knight of Pentacles big time. I prepared, was unwilling to give up when things got hard, gave generously with my time, dug deep into the details, and completed in a purposeful, productive, and diligent way. This makes me think of a favorite Zen Buddhism quote: “How you do anything is how you do everything.” This is everything.
There are times in life when it can feel that you are just plodding along, doing the same things over and over again with no real sign of success. The Knight of Pentacles knows how to get things down and has the focus and vision to see a task through to the end.
Assess, strategize, plan, and prepare before moving forward. And, if you’re wondering how to manifest this magical Knight of Pentacles into your life? Oh, that’s simple. Review what I wrote about him above, and do/be that. He is expecting the same thing from you!
Ever Upward!
