August offers a new opportunity to introduce unique perspectives and make them a part of your story. There’s nothing like a good plot 🌀 twist, and that leads us to the Strength card in Tarot.
This card is all about compassion and openness. With a name like Strength, you can expect this card to look like a page out of a body-building magazine or one of those Marvel movies—or whatever its early 1800s counterpart looked like. But, no. Most Strength cards show a woman lovingly engaging with a lion (or similarly aggressive animal) and even placing her hand in the animal’s mouth. This picture emits a different, powerful message. It’s a message that tells of the power of being vulnerable and steady in the face of something that could devour you whole.

You’re facing a challenging situation: maybe a career obstacle, a personal struggle, or even just the normal ebbs and flows of life. You can manage this alone, or, in a lucky twist of fate, you can take the advice of the unusual duo pictured on the card. The suggestion (should you choose to listen) reminds you that you can overcome adversity and become stronger, wiser, and more resilient than before. Let’s snap out of that fairy tale and bring this insight into your day-to-day life.
💎 Here are a few valuable lessons:
- Balance and Control. Like the woman taming the mighty lion, you can find strength in stepping back, finding your center, and approaching challenges with a calm and measured mindset. Controlling your emotions helps you make wiser decisions and navigate life’s difficulties more easily.
- Patience and Perseverance. Patience truly is a virtue. Life rarely unfolds according to plan. These moments of waiting, uncertainty, or setbacks test our inner strength. Imagine that every setback is an opportunity for growth – and every delay has its cosmic purpose.
- Kindness and Love. Treat yourself and others with kindness and understanding. Face challenges head-on with love as opposed to fear or aggression. Let your actions guide you with empathy and a genuine desire for understanding and connection.Â
I went to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) a few years ago to renew my driver’s license. The long line was moving oh so slowly. Mostly, everyone was minding their business and waiting for their turn. Suddenly, a man walked in. He was loud, drunk, and filled the small space with an awful stench. The staff continued at their pace like nothing was wrong. Someone seated in the chairs stood up and said – in a neutral and helpful tone, “How about we all vote to allow this gentleman to go ahead of us all?” Within seconds the entire place agreed, and the man handled his business and left. Just like that, the space returned to how it was before he arrived. Except that there was now something of a kinship within the group. It was amazing to see. Â
What lesson do balance, patience, and kindness have for you? Use this unique perspective of Strength—not as muscle—but as a powerful tool to help navigate life’s ups and downs, celebrations, and challenges.
