It seems that only yesterday it was mid-August and we had a few more weeks of summer to soak up before the change in season rolled in. For so many people, September is a month filled with new beginnings and with that also comes meetings, sign ups, try outs, holidays and auditions.
Even though I am no longer in “school” (the truth is I am the forever student and always looking to learn and grow), September is also associated with the start of school and all the emotions that come along with that!
The approach of September often makes me feel a bit nostalgic for all things that summer represents: Freedom, warmth, outdoor fun, barbeques, the beach, downtime with friends, exciting unexpected trips and plans, and ice cream.
So, when I reached out to my old steady, my trusty tarot deck, I knew it would not let me down in giving me some insight and advice on where we are today. I shuffled the cards and did my normal ritual of selection, and soon I was face to face with my friend the Three of Cups.
Just looking at this card makes me smile. I immediately see myself in the picture along with 2 close friends, we are toasting ourselves, acknowledging our creativity and the feeling of community we feel from knowing we are with our “tribe”.
I recently attended an event where the main speaker’s topic was the importance of focusing on what is important to you in your life and not wasting your time worrying about what others think, and most importantly, not judging others. Seeing the 3 of cups brought me back to a few of the points that were discussed in this presentation and how I internalized them for me and in my life.
First, keep you eye on the ball. We cannot all walk around with all of the same goals and intentions at all times. Staying true to what is important to you and living your life as the best version of yourself possible is a good way to start.
Second, carve out time to do the things that you love. Looking at this card, I see how happy and content these 3 ladies are just dancing and being together. If your time is being eaten up by obligations and activities you feel are not only not fun but not worth your time, it is time to change your schedule!
Third, take a trip to California! What?! Yeah, take some time and get away. One of my original tarot teachers taught me many moons ago that somehow, no matter what, the 3 of cups is California. So, as you are staying true to yourself and carving out the time to do the things you love, hop a plane to the sunny coast and drink in a few more days of summer. You’ll be glad you did!
If you are looking for a little guidance or just checking in to see what is happening in your life right now, reach out to me to set up a private session, or plan that party with your community of friends and invite me to take care of the rest!
Some questions to think about this month: In what way(s) can I incorportate the sense of playfulness and creativity of the 3 of cups into my daily life? Where can I bring a more social/fun element into my routine? What community, group or club would be a good place for me to possibly join or get invloved with? Who are my closest and most reliable friends? Now acknowledge them! (hugs all around!)
As always, I would love to hear about your thougths, successes and ideas
Until next time . . . . .
