Welcome! I’m so glad you are joining me for our last blog for July. Let’s look at a real-life situation to recap this month’s series, the Two of Wands, as we talk about stability vs. mobility.
A Client’s Story
Recently, the Two of Wands showed up in a reading for my client, Lisa. It was no surprise when she revealed her struggle was with making a work-related decision. Lisa loves her job and has been grateful for the privilege of having a long-term career at her alma mater. She loves her colleagues and staff, treasures engaging with students, and enjoys acting as a liaison to alumni.
As one of the most experienced employees in her department, Lisa’s both proud of and highly committed to her work. Retirement is still five years away. And it has always been her plan to spend the remainder of her career staying put, continuing to do what she loves.
Here’s the plot twist: The university recently hired a new manager—a job Lisa could perform with her eyes closed, but that isn’t her chosen path. Her real dilemma is that her new manager is threatened by Lisa and, as a result, making her work life tense and unpleasant.
Lisa’s been struggling with deciding whether she should find a way to make this work or whether it’s time to seek a new job for her remaining working years. She’s frustrated and anxious about what’s the best way forward.
The Tarot Coach Approach
As we explore this question using the tarot coach approach, here’s what Lisa discovers:
✨ First, she chooses the globe. It’s the object in the card she gravitates toward most. When I ask her what the globe represents for her, she replies, “I think I need to get a global view of the situation—I need to understand the bigger picture better.”
✨ Next, she notes that brown is the color that most catches her attention. “I feel like brown is the color of the earth,” she explains. “And earth is solid, grounded, rooted.”
✨ Finally, I asked her to describe her overall vibe from the card. She notes that it makes her feel thoughtful and contemplative, but not like she needs to take immediate action. “I don’t want to make an impulsive move and then find it’s something I’ll come to regret later,” she tells me.
Results!
As a result, Lisa requested a meeting with her new manager to share her desire to work together as a cooperative team player and hopefully reduce her manager’s insecurity. This will also allow Lisa to express how much she wants to continue to do a job she loves and to communicate that a hands-off approach to managing her will work best.
By giving sincere thought and intention to her next step, Lisa understands she must gain her manager’s trust to continue as a strong, confident, dynamic team member. Using the tarot coach approach, Lisa decided the best approach is to lay her cards out on the table—to which I say: Touche!
❝ A reading with Dina is a true delight! She was able to articulate and shine a new light on aspects of my personality and current year/year ahead in a way that was enlightening and comforting. She has a wonderful presence and a down-to-earth, practical approach to life and readings. It is a joy to be around Dina, and I look forward to the next reading with her.❞ -Jenn
Do you have a decision to make—big or small? If so, I recommend trying the tarot coach approach technique I shared in last week’s message! I hope you’ll be amazed at the results! And feel free to reply and let me know!
