Welcome to our 3rd post in the Knight of Wands series, Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes. How do you feel about change? A loaded question, I know! Your answer may be complicated, and that’s okay because, not everyone is like the Knight of Wands—in love with the idea of constant movement, adventure, and change.
The Knight of Wands asks, How do you normally react to the concept of change? Does it excite you or frighten you? Do you try to ignore it? You might fear change while others embrace it or you may jump at the chance to experience something new and different and throw caution to the wind, but then regret it later.
Adjust Your Thinking
Whether you like change or not, do you notice how it often happens anyway? That’s because change doesn’t sit around waiting for your approval. 😂 It happens to remind you that change is the only constant.
I can’t help but think about a saying that rolls around in my own head often when I find myself resisting change: Nothing changes if nothing changes. You may wonder—if people, relationships, circumstances, etc., are going to change as part of natural law (eventually), how can you adjust your thinking to embrace change rather than reject it?
Here’s some sage advice from the Knight of Wands:
- Keep a traveler’s mindset. The Knight of Wands—the traveler of the tarot—knows that when you travel, you’re not escaping reality, but actually venturing further into it. Literal physical travel or travel of the mind, this journey’s one you can plan for. Remember, too, travel with a purpose: new experiences!
- Your Challenge: Plan with purpose and you’ll be able to mitigate any mishaps along the way.
- Wear your armor. To be armored is to be confident that you’re protected and well prepared for what’s to come so you won’t be caught off guard. The Knight of Wand’s armor is shiny and reflective, asking you to reflect on what you can learn from your current situation. Change is easier when you’re armored—not against change—but in ways that allow you to accept it.
- Your Challenge: How can you prepare in ways that make change easier?
- Dress up. With his fancy feathered plume and his colorful tunic, the Knight of Wands is creative, passionate, bold, and intentional. Show up as your most authentic self and be seen!
- Your Challenge: How can you make change more colorful and fun?
- Surround yourself with good people. The knight and his horse have a long, solid, strong, and vital relationship. One cannot exist without the other. Working together, the sky’s the limit. Surround yourself with people you trust and who have your back.
- Your Challenge: How is your current circle serving you?
What Happens Next?
Above all, remember to follow your curiosity, seek knowledge, and try to learn things you never understood before. When you take part in the change you want to see, you’ll undoubtedly help create your most exciting experiences!
As for what will happen next, ask your inner Knight of Wands for the map. He—and his trusty horse—are ready to go!
Ever Upward!
