Last week, we talked about incorporating the Queen of Pentacles‘ energy into your life. If you missed it, check out It’s Not That Urgent here. In this week’s article, Queen of Pentacles-The Birthday Queen, we explore the special intuition that we all have, and it should never be ignored. But first, let me tell you a quick story.
Lunch is important—wait, let me back up. Growing up, as the younger sibling of a highly ambitious overachiever, I characterize my sister, a straight-A student taking AP classes, as Type A. This left me, a decent student who prefers being social to reading books, assuming that I was Type B. Fast forward a few years . . .
My Inner Voice
Burning the work-related candle at both ends, I’m juggling a full-time sales job, my tarot business, and working hard to complete all of the requirements for my life coaching certification program. The constant pressure to sell and bring in new clients weighs heavily on me as I strive to build my coaching practice and complete the required client hours in the window of time provided for my certificate requirements. I spent every hour of every day working on what needed to be done, and I was focused, determined, and to be honest, exhausted. There was literally no wiggle room for anything.
One week, my mom called to say that for her 80th birthday, she and my Aunt (my 2nd mom) were coming to NYC to see a matinee show on Broadway. She invited me to join them for lunch. Stressed about all I had to do—the thought of telling my boss that I was going to take a 2-hour lunch, and the fact that I had a coaching client slotted for Wednesday during lunch—I held back on saying yes. My head was racing with questions: How could I take this time away from the office? Where was I going to move my client (every other day was taken)? How could I make up for the lost time? Honestly, how did I become so Type A?
Then my other voice kicked in and my inner Queen of Pentacles voice spoke to me. Speaking to my intuition, she had her own list of questions. What are you thinking!? VALUES! How can you even think of saying no? How often does someone celebrate their 80th birthday? What’s more important than this lunch? Um, nothing.
A Queen of Pentacles Lesson
So I went, and it was delicious, memorable, meaningful, and full of laughs and stories. I am so glad I went. I did NOT let the urgent overtake the important. Ten days later, news of the pandemic hit and we went into lockdown. I didn’t see my mom for almost 6 months.😢Prioritizing my mom was the right choice for me—a Queen of Pentacles lesson. This week is the 2-year anniversary of that lunch. Join me as I say, HAPPY🎂 BIRTHDAY; MOM!
The Queen of Pentacles reminds us to pay special attention to our own inner voice. Everyone has a special intuition that should never be ignored. Get back to the basics, ground yourself and spend time in nature. What’s something that you’ve done that you resisted at first but were so grateful to do after the experience? Let me know!
